Where my last release “Circles” is a quite long track, “Subconsciously” is a shorter track. I see that as a natural development in terms of completing and releasing a new track. It’s quite a process to complete a track of 12 minutes (at least for me). Especially in the final process where I have to listen to it over and over again, in order to get it absolutely right (consistency, balance, levels, master, etc.). That is not the same for a shorter track like this.

The track is funny enough based on a sketch for a long track from 2017 (consisting of 3 parts). When I started looking for ideas for a next release, I came across this track. I remembered I got stuck with it, because I really like the first and the last part, but the second part never really worked for me. However, I was also immediately triggered by all kind of emotions and feelings when I listened to the last part of the track, and decided to give it a go and re-work it into a single track.

As such, “Subconsciously” does not really tell a specific story, it is more about how I “subconsciously” connect with this track and what certain parts of the track makes me feel. When listening to the track I get this sort of ghostly feeling, drifting or moving towards something, moving from one point to another. Around 3 minutes into the track I get the sensation of having to cry or being sad. It sort of builds up “subconsciously” from the beginning of the track. During the course of the track it only becomes stronger and stronger. But it stays like that, I do not cry, and then suddenly, towards the end, it stops, like a trigger to not cry, all the sadness disappears and I mostly sit smiling afterwards. Very weird probably, but that is just how I feel. That is also why I want to release this track, I have (apparently) a very strong and powerful relation to this track, without really knowing why. Maybe over time I will discover why, maybe never?

I believe music is a matter of taste and preference and it is therefore up to the listeners themselves to interpret / perceive the track (if they want to), to see if the experience the same or something entirely different, or simply just listening to track as such. All is possible and to me there is no right or wrong when listening to music.
